Meet Luigi – The Dog Behind Paw Branch

Every club needs a mascot — and ours has four legs, a squishy face, and strong opinions about toys.

Luigi is the reason Paw Branch exists, and he takes his role very seriously (mostly from the sofa). He is our chief taste tester, gift inspector, and box-sniffing quality controller. If Luigi does not approve something, it does not go in a Paw Branch box.

He might be small, but he has always known exactly what he likes — and what he does not.

Why Paw Branch Was Created

Hi, I’m Dave — and Paw Branch came about for a simple reason: dogs deserve better, and so does our planet.

I have run a successful hire business for years, but at home life revolved around Luigi. Like most dog owners, we loved spoiling him. Not just on his birthday, but whenever we could. New toys, treats, little surprises — all the things that make dogs happy.

But no matter what we tried, the result was always the same.

We bought toys labelled tough, durable, long-lasting. The kind you see everywhere in supermarkets and discount retailers. Yet even as a small dog, Luigi would always find a corner, seam, or weak spot and start working away at it.

Once a piece came off, the toy was finished. It was not safe anymore. Straight in the bin.

Week after week.
Toy after toy.

The Problem With “Tough” Dog Toys

The more toys we tried, the more frustrating it became. They rarely lived up to what was promised on the packaging.

The waste was bad enough.
The cost was worse.
And the amount of cheap plastic and so-called tough rubber going to landfill was honestly shocking.

Most of it is non-biodegradable. Much of it cannot be recycled. And once it breaks, it serves no purpose other than filling a bin bag.

It was not just a shame for Luigi — it was a shame for the planet too.

That was the moment I decided something had to change.

Building Paw Branch for Dogs and the Planet

While building Paw Branch, our family grew too. We welcomed Zeus, a blue and tan German Shepherd pup who quickly made it clear he had opinions of his own. He and Luigi became best friends almost overnight, and Luigi proudly promoted him to Second-in-Command Toy Tester.

Between them, we spent months testing, sourcing, and refining what Paw Branch would become.

As part of our commitment to sustainability, we made a simple promise: for every birthday or gift box sold, we will plant a tree. With each order, we are not just celebrating dogs — we are helping support the planet they explore every day.
